Preventative Maintenance
The easiest way to keep your carpet looking its best is to vacuum regularly. Investing in a good, quality vacuum and establishing a routine will go a long way in preserving your beautiful carpet flooring.
Frequent vacuuming removes dirt, dust, and other debris that can work its way into your carpet fibers, causing long-term damage. Thus, it is essential in ensuring the overall look and feel of your carpet floors.
For areas with light foot traffic, vacuuming every few days should suffice. However, if the carpeted area is busy then you may want to vacuum every day.
Dealing With Spills & Stains
Unlike some types of flooring, carpets are vulnerable to spills and stains. But if you act fast then most spills can be mitigated before becoming long-term stains.
Absorb wet spills quickly by blotting repeatedly with white paper or white cloth towels. Always blot; never rub or scrub abrasively. When blotting, work from the outer edge toward the center of the spot to avoid spreading the spill. Remove the stain by using a recommended cleaning item for your carpet and then absorb any remaining moisture with a dry cloth.
